About Amanda Kellogg Photography

Hi - my name is Amanda. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I am also a photographer. I would love to say that I grew up loving photography, that I have done it my whole life, and I have had a single minded mission to be a professional photographer since I was six. But the reality is that it started much smaller than that. It started as a spark in 2007, when my son was born. It was a desire to capture the smile of my baby boy that grew into a passion for not only capturing my own memories, but for helping others capture special moments in their lives, too.

I really enjoy documenting those moments in places that are special to my subjects… in their home, a favorite park, the family farm, and anywhere else that brings a sense of home and feeling of enjoyment. One of the hard things about studio time at chain places is that you have just a short period of time to sit and smile and move to the next outfit or generic background. I take extra time with each of my clients to coax out more natural expressions and get to the real person. I want to capture YOU and your silly or crazy personalities - how you really are so you and your family will have cherished photographs to look back on for years to come.

Rain! | Rochester, Minnesota Family Photographer

June 30th, 2012

This family drove from Wisconsin to get their family pictures done. Unfortunately, it started sprinkling not too long after we started the session. I think we got some really adorable shots for the very short time we had. This little girl did NOT want to smile, but I think the pictures where she isn’t smiling are just as cute (if not more cute). I love that she wanted her blankie in the pictures – and I think it’s important to include these things in pictures. It’s easy to forget the little things when they are so little and one day everyone can look back and remember how B liked to carry around a green blankie.

Joy | Rochester, Minnesota Family Photographer

June 28th, 2012

I’ve done several sessions with this family and every single one of them is fun. Every single member of their family is gorgeous. Don’t you agree? And if that wasn’t enough, they are super nice, too. We met up at a local park to score some family pictures. The kids have grown so much since I last saw them in the fall and it’s always a joy to see them. We had a little mishap and the poor little dude got a scrape on his head and poor older sister felt awful thinking it was her fault. After a few tears shed, we were on our way. The scrape? Nothing a little Photoshop can’t fix. :)

The images from this session all turned out great, but here are a few of my favorites.

Favorites of 2011 | Southeastern Minnesota Photographer

January 25th, 2012

I’m SLOWLY getting wound down from the holiday excitement and have finally managed to get my favorites of 2011 rounded up to post. I had such a tough time narrowing them down, so there are 77 total! I’ll be posting over the course of the next week or so to get them all posted.

I know I say this ALL THE TIME, but I really have the best job as a photographer and the BEST clients.

Going digital for 2012 | Southeastern Minnesota Photographer

December 16th, 2011

Happy Holidays to all my readers – if you are still out there. :) It’s been awhile since I’ve posted and my goal by the end of the year is to get a slideshow up of all my favorite images from 2011.

With 2011 quickly coming to an end and big changes for my family in 2012. I’ve decided to reevaluate my pricing structure and the way I do things. Several of you have asked, but I’ve been hesitant to move to all digital files simply because I LOVE seeing my pictures printed and worry that when just given a disk of images, they will sit there forever and not end up on the wall or in a frame where they can be viewed by everyone. But, I also know that it is often difficult to choose a few favorites from an entire session – you want to share them all and have them all. I understand that. I really do. :) My other concern is that someone may take the images from their session and print at an inferior print lab who will only make the carefully edited images from a session look awful. My hope is that I will recommend a print lab to you that offers extremely affordable pricing and you can go there for your prints. I will still offer specialty products – canvas, metal prints, image boxes, mini books, etc. but the the bulk of the prints will be printed at your own convenience.

I will also be offering 3 mini session dates per year. One in Spring, one in Summer, and one in Fall. These will be 15-20 minute sessions offered on one day for those not wanting to book a full session. They will also come with digital files. I will post information on here and on my Facebook page when the dates get closer. They will have limited spots and will be offered until booked.

The 2012 digital pricing will be as follows:

Family and Child Portrait Sessions: $400

-This session includes on-location family or portrait session of up to 6 immediate family members. Family members over 6 will be charged at $25/person. **Please contact me for large group sessions to work out a price.**

-Sessions usually last between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

-Also includes 25 images (often more) edited and proofed with full print release. The images are usually provided in color and black and white.

Newborn Portrait Session: $500

-The session includes on-location newborn session. These generally last 2+ hours. Also include a few family and sibling shots, but the bulk of the session is dedicated to the precious newborn.

-Includes 25 images (often more) edited and proofed with full print release. These are usually provided in both color and black and white.

From now until December 31, 2011, I will offer the opportunity to get your name on my calendar for 2012 at the current price structure. The new pricing will be in effect for all sessions booked after 1/1/2012. Contact me today at amanda@amandakelloggphotography.com to get 2011 pricing for next year.

I’m thankful for all of you as clients. I’m hoping this change is good for all of us. :)

Merry Christmas

Amanda

2011 Holiday Cards | Southeastern, Minnesota Photographer

October 10th, 2011

FINALLY! I finally have finished up the gallery for the 2011 offering of holiday cards. I have a couple more I’m going to be adding within the next week, but these should be the bulk of them. You will recognize the gallery from last year. I decided to include those again as well as new ones this year.

The fun difference this year is 5 of the designs can come in fun shapes. :) They will still fit in a normal 5×7 envelop so no extra postage, but they will surprise your friends/family. Unfortunately, I cannot show you in the gallery, but I will be able to adjust your proof when I email it to you to show what the final printed shape/product will look like. I have marked those cards with the word “shape” underneath to show you which ones they would be.

Pricing will remain the same again this year:

$37.50 – 25 flat 5×7 or 5×5 cards with envelopes

$50.00 – 25 folded 5×7 or 5×5 cards with envelopes

Please email me at amanda@amandakelloggphotography.com to get the gallery password and link.

Party of 5 | Rochester MN Family Photographer

September 13th, 2011

I met up with the W Family this evening at the History Museum. It’s one of my favorite places to shoot because they have such cool stuff there. This family was a lot of fun and I was super jealous of the well-behaved kids. Miss E is a total sassy pants and was striking poses for me left and right. Miss A was a cutie patootie who did great the entire session. Mr E was a ham and definitely is a daddy’s boy. He had the best smile – we just had to work a bit to get them.

Overall, the session was tons of fun! W Family, thanks for letting me capture your fun personalities! Enjoy your “sneak peek” :)

Love the backlighting!!

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the craziness that is a family with 3 kids!

Dream Baby | Kasson, Minnesota Newborn Photographer

August 28th, 2011

This little guy was a dream baby. He struggled for a bit getting to sleep, but soon Mr. L was out and stayed sleeping the entire time no matter how much moving and juggling we did. I think he is set up to be a model already and his parents are going to have some problems with girls at their doors when he is older. :)

I remembered when I got home that I had forgotten to take a picture of him in his room. His daddy had painted it all with Dr. Suess characters and sayings and it was pretty much the coolest room ever. Seriously tempted to go back again just to get a picture of it. :)

Thank you guys for allowing me to spend some time with you and your new little guy. It was my pleasure!

Book Your Fall Sessions!

August 25th, 2011

I know with this beautiful weather, it’s hard to think about fall – but school is right around the corner and before you know it, we’ll be complaining about the cold and snow! It’s time to think about booking your fall session now! Spaces are limited, and I recommend contacting me today to get your session booked or at least penciled in!

And as a special boost to get you moving, I will include a $50 print credit – so a total of $350 print/product credit to be used for your $300 reservation fee. This credit can be used for any prints/products I have (including holiday cards), so contact me before September 3 to take advantage. I can be reached at 507.440.2044 or amanda@amandakelloggphotography.com.

And because a post isn’t a post without a picture, check out my adorable little guy. He will be 3 in December and is potentially model material. He did this pose on his own!

Making me work | Northeastern Iowa Family Photographer

August 14th, 2011

I had the pleasure of meeting up with this family today while they were in town for a family occasion. Mom warned me that pictures might be a trial, but holy buckets did their little guy make me work for it! Kind of reminded me of my own family pictures last year with Emily Schnick Photography when my own 2 year old didn’t want to cooperate. :)
Despite the resistance, I think we got some adorable shots! I know moms like to see the smiles – but I tend to prefer the real life looks that you know you’ll forget when they are older.
Thank you for allowing me to take your pictures. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek!
