About Amanda Kellogg Photography

Hi - my name is Amanda. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I am also a photographer. I would love to say that I grew up loving photography, that I have done it my whole life, and I have had a single minded mission to be a professional photographer since I was six. But the reality is that it started much smaller than that. It started as a spark in 2007, when my son was born. It was a desire to capture the smile of my baby boy that grew into a passion for not only capturing my own memories, but for helping others capture special moments in their lives, too.

I really enjoy documenting those moments in places that are special to my subjects… in their home, a favorite park, the family farm, and anywhere else that brings a sense of home and feeling of enjoyment. One of the hard things about studio time at chain places is that you have just a short period of time to sit and smile and move to the next outfit or generic background. I take extra time with each of my clients to coax out more natural expressions and get to the real person. I want to capture YOU and your silly or crazy personalities - how you really are so you and your family will have cherished photographs to look back on for years to come.

Friday, March 29th, 2013

I have decided to donate 50% of my proceeds from the 2013 Spring Mini Sessions to the Adams Town and Country Pool. Please pass along the word so we can get these spots filled and make some money to help the pool.

2012 Fall Mini Sessions | Southeast Minnesota Family Photographer

Sunday, September 16th, 2012

I had the fall mini sessions today and really couldn’t have asked for a better day to have them. It was beautiful out! We went to the Hormel Nature Center, and I was pleasantly surprised that some of the leaves had started changing. Here is a post with images from today. Thanks everyone for coming out!

He was the cutest. I wanted to snuggle him all day.

She loved playing with the leaves.

How gorgeous is this family? They were lots of fun, too.

These kids basically looked at my like I was crazy. I probably am. :)

This little girl did not like the camera, but holy smokes I love her. Look at her gorgeous eyes! And she held my hand while walking. I could have taken her home with me.

Aren’t they cute?

K wanted to get pictures over so he could look at the animals. He also told me he out fished his daddy.

He was making dinosaur noises.

He didn’t look nearly as excited about my yellow chair as I was.

Loved taking pictures of older kids. They didn’t run away from me. :D

Her parents said this was her sneaky smile. LOL

She told me she wasn’t sassy at all.

Hands down one of my favorites from the day.

This handsome dude was one of the cutest boys I’ve ever seen – except my own boys, of course. :)

Going digital for 2012 | Southeastern Minnesota Photographer

Friday, December 16th, 2011

Happy Holidays to all my readers – if you are still out there. :) It’s been awhile since I’ve posted and my goal by the end of the year is to get a slideshow up of all my favorite images from 2011.

With 2011 quickly coming to an end and big changes for my family in 2012. I’ve decided to reevaluate my pricing structure and the way I do things. Several of you have asked, but I’ve been hesitant to move to all digital files simply because I LOVE seeing my pictures printed and worry that when just given a disk of images, they will sit there forever and not end up on the wall or in a frame where they can be viewed by everyone. But, I also know that it is often difficult to choose a few favorites from an entire session – you want to share them all and have them all. I understand that. I really do. :) My other concern is that someone may take the images from their session and print at an inferior print lab who will only make the carefully edited images from a session look awful. My hope is that I will recommend a print lab to you that offers extremely affordable pricing and you can go there for your prints. I will still offer specialty products – canvas, metal prints, image boxes, mini books, etc. but the the bulk of the prints will be printed at your own convenience.

I will also be offering 3 mini session dates per year. One in Spring, one in Summer, and one in Fall. These will be 15-20 minute sessions offered on one day for those not wanting to book a full session. They will also come with digital files. I will post information on here and on my Facebook page when the dates get closer. They will have limited spots and will be offered until booked.

The 2012 digital pricing will be as follows:

Family and Child Portrait Sessions: $400

-This session includes on-location family or portrait session of up to 6 immediate family members. Family members over 6 will be charged at $25/person. **Please contact me for large group sessions to work out a price.**

-Sessions usually last between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

-Also includes 25 images (often more) edited and proofed with full print release. The images are usually provided in color and black and white.

Newborn Portrait Session: $500

-The session includes on-location newborn session. These generally last 2+ hours. Also include a few family and sibling shots, but the bulk of the session is dedicated to the precious newborn.

-Includes 25 images (often more) edited and proofed with full print release. These are usually provided in both color and black and white.

From now until December 31, 2011, I will offer the opportunity to get your name on my calendar for 2012 at the current price structure. The new pricing will be in effect for all sessions booked after 1/1/2012. Contact me today at amanda@amandakelloggphotography.com to get 2011 pricing for next year.

I’m thankful for all of you as clients. I’m hoping this change is good for all of us. :)

Merry Christmas

Amanda

2011 Holiday Cards | Southeastern, Minnesota Photographer

Monday, October 10th, 2011

FINALLY! I finally have finished up the gallery for the 2011 offering of holiday cards. I have a couple more I’m going to be adding within the next week, but these should be the bulk of them. You will recognize the gallery from last year. I decided to include those again as well as new ones this year.

The fun difference this year is 5 of the designs can come in fun shapes. :) They will still fit in a normal 5×7 envelop so no extra postage, but they will surprise your friends/family. Unfortunately, I cannot show you in the gallery, but I will be able to adjust your proof when I email it to you to show what the final printed shape/product will look like. I have marked those cards with the word “shape” underneath to show you which ones they would be.

Pricing will remain the same again this year:

$37.50 – 25 flat 5×7 or 5×5 cards with envelopes

$50.00 – 25 folded 5×7 or 5×5 cards with envelopes

Please email me at amanda@amandakelloggphotography.com to get the gallery password and link.

Book Your Fall Sessions!

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

I know with this beautiful weather, it’s hard to think about fall – but school is right around the corner and before you know it, we’ll be complaining about the cold and snow! It’s time to think about booking your fall session now! Spaces are limited, and I recommend contacting me today to get your session booked or at least penciled in!

And as a special boost to get you moving, I will include a $50 print credit – so a total of $350 print/product credit to be used for your $300 reservation fee. This credit can be used for any prints/products I have (including holiday cards), so contact me before September 3 to take advantage. I can be reached at 507.440.2044 or amanda@amandakelloggphotography.com.

And because a post isn’t a post without a picture, check out my adorable little guy. He will be 3 in December and is potentially model material. He did this pose on his own!

New Pricing

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

After quite a bit of contemplation and discussion with friends, I’ve decided to change my pricing to requiring a bigger deposit and using the whole amount as a print credit. My hope, by doing this, is that people will utilize the product credit to buy bigger prints (8×10 is NOT big) or other fun products like canvas, gallery wrap, metal prints, coffee table books, or even digital files. Of course I want you to get a 5×7 for grandma, but where I really want my work is hanging on your walls in BIG prints for all to see and enjoy. :)

The collections will remain build your own as I do not want to choose WHAT you get in your collection. As before, the more you buy, the better your discount and the more free stuff you can get. :)

The new pricing is in effect now and for all sessions booked after 5/23/2011.

Avery | Southeast Minnesota Newborn Photographer

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

I got the pleasure of meeting up with Alissa of Twisted Scissors to take pictures of her beautiful new baby girl. Avery was a dream sleeper and we got a lot of great shots. Her older brother is a handsome little guy, too, but he didn’t want to be in any pictures. Maybe next time!

Marissa | Class of 2012 Southland Senior Rep

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

I met up with beautiful Marissa tonight to walk around Adams and see what kind of cool places we could find to do some senior pictures. Marissa is my Southland Senior Rep this year (you can read more about that in the post below this); and I couldn’t be luckier. This girl is truly gorgeous and super sweet. She also has to be pretty smart because she works at the same place I worked at when I was in high school…back in the good old days. :)

Here is Marissa’s sneak peek. I may share more later as I edit more. Enjoy. :)

Searching for Class of 2012 Senior Reps

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

The basics of being a Senior Rep- you get a FREE promo session with Amanda Kellogg Photography in late Spring/early Summer 2011. For this session, I choose the location and you will have lots of gorgeous images to show off! From this session you will get a FREE spiral bound book to show off your photos to your friends and classmates. You will also get 3 web sized images with Amanda Kellogg Photography’s logo on them for online use. And there will be a 25% discount off the 2011 Senior ala carte pricing list on any prints or products ordered.

Does this sound too good to be true? It isn’t. But I do expect my Senior Reps to promote Amanda Kellogg Photography to their friends, so it helps to be outgoing and comfortable talking to people. As a Senior Rep, you promise to show off your senior portraits and to tell your friends how much you love Amanda Kellogg Photography. Looking like a super-model is NOT a requirement! My job is to make your portraits look good!

Along the way the Senior Rep will earn money for referrals. Just for being a representative you will have 50 rep cards to hand out with a photo of you from your session and Amanda Kellogg Photography’s contact info on the back. It will even have a discount on a session for your friends to use! When they present the card at their session the Senior Rep will earn either $25 cash or $35 print credit. Ten referrals earns you another FREE session at a location of your choice.

Amanda Kellogg Photography limits its representatives to two from each school. Be sure to fill out the application and I will be in contact with you.

HELP! | LeRoy, Minnesota Family Photographer

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile, it’s been crazy around here and since it’s winter, I don’t have a lot to share.

With Spring quickly approaching…THANK GOODNESS…I am finally starting to come out of hibernation mode and will hopefully be posting more often. My first post back is something special for my friends and for you, too.

I have been friends with Nina for as long as I can remember. We have some pretty funny stories to tell from back in our school days. I met Jake later on in my life, but I matched them up and it worked! They got married a little over 3 years ago now and have been trying to start their family ever since. After years of trying, infertility appointments with specialists, and a lot of praying, they have decided to add to their family through adoption. I couldn’t be happier for them and firmly believe there is no more deserving people than they are. As some of you know (or don’t know), I was adopted when I was 8 and hold a special place in my heart for those who choose to love a child they didn’t birth.

The downfall of adoption is the astronomical costs involved. Total, it will amount to roughly $25,000, and I have made it a mission of mine to help my friends raise the necessary funds. I truly do not want money to be the reason a child is withheld from their arms.

So…where do you come in? Well, from now to March 18, I have decided to run a promotion to help not only my friends, but also you! I have created a fund-raising page for my friends. The money donated goes directly to the organization they will be going through for adoption. For each $1 you donate to the page, I will give that amount to you in a print credit to be used toward the purchase of prints, specialty products, or digital images from your next session. I figure it’s a win-win for everyone. :)

So – contact me today at 507.440.2044 or amanda@amandakelloggphotography.com to get your session booked (we can narrow down a date later if you’d prefer) and help out a great cause!

And since a post isn’t a post without a picture, here is a couple of pictures I took of them back in October:
