About Amanda Kellogg Photography

Hi - my name is Amanda. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I am also a photographer. I would love to say that I grew up loving photography, that I have done it my whole life, and I have had a single minded mission to be a professional photographer since I was six. But the reality is that it started much smaller than that. It started as a spark in 2007, when my son was born. It was a desire to capture the smile of my baby boy that grew into a passion for not only capturing my own memories, but for helping others capture special moments in their lives, too.

I really enjoy documenting those moments in places that are special to my subjects… in their home, a favorite park, the family farm, and anywhere else that brings a sense of home and feeling of enjoyment. One of the hard things about studio time at chain places is that you have just a short period of time to sit and smile and move to the next outfit or generic background. I take extra time with each of my clients to coax out more natural expressions and get to the real person. I want to capture YOU and your silly or crazy personalities - how you really are so you and your family will have cherished photographs to look back on for years to come.

Jeremy & Amy | Rochester, MN Wedding Photographer

Monday, September 1st, 2014

I had the pleasure of joining this adorable couple last weekend as they said their vows. It’s always so humbling when a couple contacts me and wants me to photograph their wedding…and this was no exception. This couple was truly a joy to spend time with and though it did rain the morning of their wedding (good luck, I hear), they didn’t let it get them down. As they say, the show must go on, and we ended up with some amazing pictures anyway.

Thank you, again, Jeremy and Amy. Best wishes on your new marriage.

Sean & Jill Married {Part 2} | Southeastern Minnesota Wedding Photographer

After formal pictures, it was time for the ceremony to start. It was a lovely ceremony following by a balloon release and bubbles as the couple exited the church to climb into this sweet car. After the church, the couple made the trek to Rose Creek to wind down a bit before the reception. While in Rose Creek, I managed to get the couple to pose for “just one more”.

Emily and I headed back to the Legion first and then the couple arrived. The meal was served and some very funny toasts were made. They cut the cake and shared some laughs over that.

Then it was time to hit the dance floor.

First came the first dance.

Then it was time to PARTAY!!

I asked the couple for “one more picture that you want everyone to remember your day/night by” and this is what they gave me.

Sean and Jill,

Thank you again for trusting me on such an important day. Enjoy your trip up north. :)

Sean & Jill Married {Part 1} | Southeastern Minnesota Wedding Photographer

Sunday, August 25th, 2013

I was really honored and nervous to shoot Sean and Jill’s wedding. It’s my first wedding as the main shooter and I didn’t want to disappoint them. I was joined by my friend Emily, who is a photographer in the cities, and that made me feel more at ease. Sean and Jill were so laid back that it made it a breeze to work with them and join them on their very special day.

We started our day with the girls as they prepared for the big day. There was some music and a lot of laughter – even a few tears.

While the girls got ready, I snuck over a got a few of the guys getting themselves ready.

This little guy was super adorable though he wasn’t that fond of being in the group pictures.

When the guys finished getting ready, I took them behind the church to grab some shots.

These little girls were too cute for words. Loved this picture.

Meanwhile, Jill was finishing up getting ready.

When she was ready, it was time for her dad to see her for the first time as a bride. I love the emotion in his face.

Next, we coordinated the first look. Jill wanted a picture of Sean blindfolded using the special hanky she had given him as a gift, but also wanted them holding hands without seeing each other. We had some tricky lighting to work with, but we got both pictures accomplished without them seeing each other before the field.

Then the entire bridal party braved the hot temperatures to get group shots before the ceremony.

Stay tuned for Part 2 tomorrow

Sean and Jill Engaged | Southeast Minnesota Wedding Photographer

Saturday, July 6th, 2013

I met up with Sean and Jill last night for some pictures around our local small town. They are such a fun couple and we (at least I did) had a good time for a couple of hours. We had a few sprinkles, and afterward the sky opened up for some gorgeous light. They are getting married in August and I can’t wait to be part of their special day. You can see the love the two of them have for each other. And aren’t they gorgeous? I seriously have the best looking clients.

S Family | Southeast Minnesota Family Photographer

Monday, October 1st, 2012

It’s a bit (okay a lot) intimidating when a fellow photographer has you take pictures of their family. Emily of Emily Schnick Photography has done my family’s pictures a couple of times now and now it was my turn to test my skills on her adorable family. Her little baby is about a month old and just tiny;  I’m insanely jealous of how awesome Emily looks already. Big sister was a riot and apparently liked me tickling her because there were a couple of times she told me she wouldn’t smile unless I did it. :)   I think we got some great shots with a super adorable family.

Favorites of 2011 | Southeastern Minnesota Photographer

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

I’m SLOWLY getting wound down from the holiday excitement and have finally managed to get my favorites of 2011 rounded up to post. I had such a tough time narrowing them down, so there are 77 total! I’ll be posting over the course of the next week or so to get them all posted.

I know I say this ALL THE TIME, but I really have the best job as a photographer and the BEST clients.

Book Your Fall Sessions!

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

I know with this beautiful weather, it’s hard to think about fall – but school is right around the corner and before you know it, we’ll be complaining about the cold and snow! It’s time to think about booking your fall session now! Spaces are limited, and I recommend contacting me today to get your session booked or at least penciled in!

And as a special boost to get you moving, I will include a $50 print credit – so a total of $350 print/product credit to be used for your $300 reservation fee. This credit can be used for any prints/products I have (including holiday cards), so contact me before September 3 to take advantage. I can be reached at 507.440.2044 or amanda@amandakelloggphotography.com.

And because a post isn’t a post without a picture, check out my adorable little guy. He will be 3 in December and is potentially model material. He did this pose on his own!

Handsome | Rochester, MN Family Photographer

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

Handsome is the best and only way I can describe the little boy (and parents) that I met up with today. Little J is almost 18 months and is seriously one of the cutest little guys I’ve seen in a very long time {excluding my own three sons, of course}. With his adorable curly hair and big brown eyes, J is going to be a heart breaker. The H family was visiting Rochester for a short time, and I had the pleasure of meeting up with them at the Salem Glen Vineyard located just outside of Rochester. It was a beautiful location (check out the fabulous doors on the place) and if I was a wine drinker, I’m pretty positive they would have had something I’d enjoy. :)

We played some “peek – a – boo”.

Loved the vintage look for this one!

See, told you there were some beautiful doors!

Thanks for looking!

Amanda

I Fall to Pieces…| Southeastern Minnesota Family Photographer

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

I don’t really fall to pieces, but seriously, how freaking adorable is this family? I was trying to come up with a song title with “fall” in it, and this is the first one I came up with. Don’t mind me, it’s been a long day… daylight savings time has done me in! (It could also be the three little boys that rule my house – it’s a toss up).

Back to the session. I met up with this family tonight. I’ve done two other sessions with them, and every time they are just so adorable. You can check out one of their previous sessions here. Little M, L, and L have really grown up before my eyes. I know I’ve said it a million times, but I LOVE my job as a photographer! I LOVE being able to see families grow! :)

Silhouette shots are my favorite!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the naturalness (is that a word?) of this family shot. LOVE!

Road Trip | St. Paul Family Photographer

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

I was contacted by A, who is related to my husband, but I’m not quite sure how. I’ll have to remember to ask him when he wakes up….but I digress. A contacted me saying they were interested in wedding pictures. It just so happened that I was heading up to the cities yesterday for a wedding anyway, so it was a quick jaunt over to St. Paul to do their session. One never knows about weather in Minnesota during the fall, but it turned out to be a gorgeous weekend and a great day to do some pictures. I love the one where they are holding hands. I think they said it will be 35 years in December…I could be off, but it’s awesome that they are still holding hands. <3
