About Amanda Kellogg Photography

Hi - my name is Amanda. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I am also a photographer. I would love to say that I grew up loving photography, that I have done it my whole life, and I have had a single minded mission to be a professional photographer since I was six. But the reality is that it started much smaller than that. It started as a spark in 2007, when my son was born. It was a desire to capture the smile of my baby boy that grew into a passion for not only capturing my own memories, but for helping others capture special moments in their lives, too.

I really enjoy documenting those moments in places that are special to my subjects… in their home, a favorite park, the family farm, and anywhere else that brings a sense of home and feeling of enjoyment. One of the hard things about studio time at chain places is that you have just a short period of time to sit and smile and move to the next outfit or generic background. I take extra time with each of my clients to coax out more natural expressions and get to the real person. I want to capture YOU and your silly or crazy personalities - how you really are so you and your family will have cherished photographs to look back on for years to come.

Jeremy & Amy | Rochester, MN Wedding Photographer

September 1st, 2014

I had the pleasure of joining this adorable couple last weekend as they said their vows. It’s always so humbling when a couple contacts me and wants me to photograph their wedding…and this was no exception. This couple was truly a joy to spend time with and though it did rain the morning of their wedding (good luck, I hear), they didn’t let it get them down. As they say, the show must go on, and we ended up with some amazing pictures anyway.

Thank you, again, Jeremy and Amy. Best wishes on your new marriage.

Sean & Jill Married {Part 2} | Southeastern Minnesota Wedding Photographer

August 27th, 2013

After formal pictures, it was time for the ceremony to start. It was a lovely ceremony following by a balloon release and bubbles as the couple exited the church to climb into this sweet car. After the church, the couple made the trek to Rose Creek to wind down a bit before the reception. While in Rose Creek, I managed to get the couple to pose for “just one more”.

Emily and I headed back to the Legion first and then the couple arrived. The meal was served and some very funny toasts were made. They cut the cake and shared some laughs over that.

Then it was time to hit the dance floor.

First came the first dance.

Then it was time to PARTAY!!

I asked the couple for “one more picture that you want everyone to remember your day/night by” and this is what they gave me.

Sean and Jill,

Thank you again for trusting me on such an important day. Enjoy your trip up north. :)

Sean & Jill Married {Part 1} | Southeastern Minnesota Wedding Photographer

August 25th, 2013

I was really honored and nervous to shoot Sean and Jill’s wedding. It’s my first wedding as the main shooter and I didn’t want to disappoint them. I was joined by my friend Emily, who is a photographer in the cities, and that made me feel more at ease. Sean and Jill were so laid back that it made it a breeze to work with them and join them on their very special day.

We started our day with the girls as they prepared for the big day. There was some music and a lot of laughter – even a few tears.

While the girls got ready, I snuck over a got a few of the guys getting themselves ready.

This little guy was super adorable though he wasn’t that fond of being in the group pictures.

When the guys finished getting ready, I took them behind the church to grab some shots.

These little girls were too cute for words. Loved this picture.

Meanwhile, Jill was finishing up getting ready.

When she was ready, it was time for her dad to see her for the first time as a bride. I love the emotion in his face.

Next, we coordinated the first look. Jill wanted a picture of Sean blindfolded using the special hanky she had given him as a gift, but also wanted them holding hands without seeing each other. We had some tricky lighting to work with, but we got both pictures accomplished without them seeing each other before the field.

Then the entire bridal party braved the hot temperatures to get group shots before the ceremony.

Stay tuned for Part 2 tomorrow

Sean and Jill Engaged | Southeast Minnesota Wedding Photographer

July 6th, 2013

I met up with Sean and Jill last night for some pictures around our local small town. They are such a fun couple and we (at least I did) had a good time for a couple of hours. We had a few sprinkles, and afterward the sky opened up for some gorgeous light. They are getting married in August and I can’t wait to be part of their special day. You can see the love the two of them have for each other. And aren’t they gorgeous? I seriously have the best looking clients.

2013 Adams Spring Mini Sessions | Adams, Minnesota Family Photographer

May 12th, 2013

Yesterday I met up with 4 families for Spring Mini Sessions by Adams. They had been rescheduled due to the awful snow storm we got right before the original date. Ugh. It was a bit chilly, but I guess I’m just thankful there was no snow on the ground and the grass was green. :) Here’s hoping Spring is going to get here soon!

All the adorable kiddos I took pictures of yesterday totally rocked it and they turned out absolutely fabulous!

2013 Spring Mini Sessions

March 29th, 2013

I have decided to donate 50% of my proceeds from the 2013 Spring Mini Sessions to the Adams Town and Country Pool. Please pass along the word so we can get these spots filled and make some money to help the pool.

Snow | Rochester, Minnesota Family Photographer

January 6th, 2013

My goodness it’s been a long time since I posted on here. I really need to do a better job of updating my blog instead of posting everything on Facebook. That will be one of my goals for 2013. Did I say that last year, too? :-) Life gets too busy on me!

Anyway, you may recognize this adorable family from previous sessions. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them several times and when they suggested a snow session – I thought, “hey, why not!” We could not have asked for better weather considering it’s January and Minnesota. The kids really did great for the 45 minutes we were out playing in the snow. This was a new location and lots of fun things to explore – and we didn’t see everything. You can bet I’ll be using this spot more often!

How adorable is this family? I say it often, but I really do love my job and the clients I photograph. :)

S Family | Southeast Minnesota Family Photographer

October 1st, 2012

It’s a bit (okay a lot) intimidating when a fellow photographer has you take pictures of their family. Emily of Emily Schnick Photography has done my family’s pictures a couple of times now and now it was my turn to test my skills on her adorable family. Her little baby is about a month old and just tiny;  I’m insanely jealous of how awesome Emily looks already. Big sister was a riot and apparently liked me tickling her because there were a couple of times she told me she wouldn’t smile unless I did it. :)   I think we got some great shots with a super adorable family.

2012 Fall Mini Sessions | Southeast Minnesota Family Photographer

September 16th, 2012

I had the fall mini sessions today and really couldn’t have asked for a better day to have them. It was beautiful out! We went to the Hormel Nature Center, and I was pleasantly surprised that some of the leaves had started changing. Here is a post with images from today. Thanks everyone for coming out!

He was the cutest. I wanted to snuggle him all day.

She loved playing with the leaves.

How gorgeous is this family? They were lots of fun, too.

These kids basically looked at my like I was crazy. I probably am. :)

This little girl did not like the camera, but holy smokes I love her. Look at her gorgeous eyes! And she held my hand while walking. I could have taken her home with me.

Aren’t they cute?

K wanted to get pictures over so he could look at the animals. He also told me he out fished his daddy.

He was making dinosaur noises.

He didn’t look nearly as excited about my yellow chair as I was.

Loved taking pictures of older kids. They didn’t run away from me. :D

Her parents said this was her sneaky smile. LOL

She told me she wasn’t sassy at all.

Hands down one of my favorites from the day.

This handsome dude was one of the cutest boys I’ve ever seen – except my own boys, of course. :)

Morgan | Riceville High School Class of 2013

July 28th, 2012

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Miss Morgan last night. Isn’t she beautiful? I say time and time again that I’m glad I’m not a senior nowadays – these girls are just too dang pretty! She was a real sport climbing into ditches and doing what I asked. We even contemplated jumping a fence for a cool building, but we decided against it…maybe next time. Morgan plans on going to college to do ultrasounds of the heart. She is active in basketball, track, and softball and ridiculously sweet.

Morgan, thanks for choosing me to capture your special milestone in your life. Enjoy the sneak peek.
